Privacy Policy

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how WashDrobe ("we," "our," or "the App") handles your information. Our fundamental principle is simple: your data belongs to you and stays with you.

2. Data Collection

We Do NOT Collect:

• Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
• Usage analytics or behavior tracking
• Device identifiers or advertising IDs
• Location data
• Contact lists or other device information
• Crash reports or diagnostic data
• Any form of telemetry

What the App Stores Locally:

The App stores the following data exclusively on your device:

• Clothing items: Names, categories, wear counts, wash counts, purchase dates, and notes you enter
• Photos: Images of clothing items and purchase receipts you choose to attach
• Categories: Custom categories you create to organize your wardrobe
• Settings: Your preferences for display modes, color thresholds, and filters
• Statistics: Calculated wear/wash statistics based on your locally stored data

3. Data Storage & Security

All data is stored locally on your device using:

• Mobile (iOS/Android): Encrypted local database (Hive) stored in the app's private storage directory
• Web: Browser's IndexedDB and Local Storage, which are sandboxed and accessible only to the App

Your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly use the Export feature or enable the optional Google Drive backup.

4. No User Accounts

The App does not require or support user accounts. There is:

• No registration or sign-up process
• No username or password
• No cloud storage or synchronization
• No authentication servers

5. Third-Party Services

By default, the App does not integrate with any third-party services. The only optional exception is Google Drive backup (see Section 5a). The App does not use:

• Analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Firebase, etc.)
• Advertising networks
• Social media platforms
• Cloud storage providers
• Payment processors (the App is free with no in-app purchases)

5a. Optional Google Drive Backup

WashDrobe offers an optional Google Drive backup feature. Here is exactly how it works:

• Completely optional: Google sign-in and Drive backup are never required. The app is fully functional without them.
• Your Drive, your data: When you enable backup, your wardrobe data is written directly to your own Google Drive account. WashDrobe does not have a backend server and never stores or transmits your data to our own infrastructure.
• Minimal scope: The only Google OAuth scope requested is https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.appdata. Backups are stored in a hidden, app-specific folder called appDataFolder in your Google Drive, which is only accessible to WashDrobe and Google Drive itself. WashDrobe cannot access or modify any of your other Drive files or folders.
• No server involvement: Data travels from your device to your personal Google Drive only when you have this feature enabled. If Google Drive backup is not enabled (and aside from manual local export/import), data does not leave your device. WashDrobe has no intermediary server and cannot see your backup contents.
• Revoke anytime: You can revoke the app's access at any time from your Google Account permissions page or from within the app's backup settings.

6. Permissions

The App requests only the following device permissions, used exclusively for core functionality:

• Camera/Photos: To capture or select images of clothing items (optional)
• Storage: To save and load photos locally, and to export/import backup files (optional)

These permissions are never used to collect, transmit, or share your data.

7. Data Export & Backup

You have full control over your data:

• Export: Create a JSON backup file of all your wardrobe data, which you can store anywhere you choose
• Import: Restore data from a previously exported backup file
• These operations are entirely local and manual — we have no access to your exported files

8. Data Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device:

• Uninstalling the App permanently deletes all associated data from your device
• On web, clearing browser data for the App's domain removes all stored information
• There are no accounts to delete or server-side data to request removal of

9. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

The App does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since the App does not require registration, does not collect any personal data, does not transmit data to external servers, and contains no social features — it is safe for users of all ages.

10. International Users

Since the App operates entirely offline with no data transmission, it complies with international privacy regulations including:

• GDPR (European Union)
• CCPA (California, USA)
• PIPEDA (Canada)
• DPA (UK)

By default, your data never crosses borders because it never leaves your device. If you enable optional Google Drive backup, your backup data is subject to Google's data handling practices and infrastructure.

11. Changes to This Policy

If we update this Privacy Policy, we will:

• Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
• Notify users through an in-app message (if applicable)
• Continue to honor our core commitment: no data collection or transmission

12. Your Rights

Since we don't collect your data, traditional "data rights" (access, correction, deletion requests) don't apply. However:

• You have full ownership and control of all your data at all times
• You can export, delete, or modify your data anytime through the App
• You can uninstall the App without any consequences or data retention on our end
